Our Goal...
To have a united effort to develop the heart of a servant - serving within our congregation and community.
The Women's Serving Ministry is an opportunity for our Christian Ladies to fellowship with one another while meeting needs of our brothers and sisters as well as the needs of our community. There is much that Christian woman can and should do. Some times Christian women forget what a vital role we play in our congregation and teh joy that comes with serving others.
Meetings
The second Tuesday of each month at 7:00pm at the church building.
In our effort to get others involved and to keep ourselves actively serving we plan to meet once a month. This time has been set for the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00pm at the church building. These meetings are for the purpose of planning activities, making adjustments to current activities, and updating the folders of information.
Hospital Hospitality Bags
Our purpose is to serve by providing the patient / family with toiletries and snacks while they are at the hospital. Two or three ladies keep the supplies and bags filled. Another lady fills medicine bottles with inspirational scripture for each bag. A rotating list of volunteers is used to deliver the filled bags to local hospitals.
Cooking for Families with a Death / Shut-in
The purpose of this group of ladies is to serve by providing food for the grieving family before and after the funeral. A lady gets someone to be in charge of the cooking list for a month. This lady uses a rotating list to contact ladies who will cook for that family in need. The meal after the funeral is set up and cleaned up by these ladies. Food remaining is given to the family giving them additional time free of cooking for them to deal with all that is involved with the death of a family member.
We also serve others by providing meals for someone at home who is not able to cook whether it is for short or long term. A lady in charge of this service calls volunteers and schedules dates for them to be responsible for the meal. This too is done from a rotating list.
Transportation Services
This group of ladies serves by providing transportation for someone who is not able to drive. The person in need will be transported for medical appointments, getting medicines, groceries, and/or to worship services. Volunteers will also pick up medicines and deliver them to the homebound person.
Church Library Staff
The WomenÕs Serving Ministry is very proud to have helped establish the church library. Two ladies catalogue new books and keep volunteers assigned to check out books at designated times. New volumes are continually being added with all age groups being considered as purchases are made. Books given in memory of someone are welcomed.
Card Sending Ministry
This service is to provide the opportunity to express caring and/or concern. A lady sends cards to those who are shut-in, sick, or grieving. All congregational ladies are encouraged to send cards as part of our service to our congregation and community.
Letters to Our Youth
When our young people leave home for the first time we want to keep in touch to remind them that they are remembered and loved. A lady gives names and addresses to congregational members for them to send cards and letters to the young person for a period of time.
Weekend Food for Children
Working through Fairview and Pinewood Elementary Schools children are selected who need food for the weekend. Easy to prepare foods are collected from the congregation and then packaged according the number of children in the family. These packages are delivered to the schools each Friday for the children to take home. The number of ladies needed for this service varies depending on the number of children served.
Devotionals:
As part of our goal is to develop the heart of a servant, we plan devotionals as a part of the continual need to increase our knowledge of the Bible. This is also an opportunity to develop deeper relationships between the ladies and discuss difficult passages.
Bring-A-Friend Day is a devotional and lunch with the purpose of asking friends to experience a devotional with us at the church building. Then the Hat Tea Devotional is a devotional and a fun time. All participating ladies wear a hat to the event and enter the competition for four Hat Awards.
